Google Penguin Update

Google recently updated their algorithm again, this time taking aim at web spam and lower quality websites.  Even though several sites that were engaging in improper linking were knocked off of the map; other sites that had not participated in these programs were still hit.  The ultimate benefit is that those websites that have not practiced negative seo tactics and only used the best content writing  are now making it to the top of the rankings.

There were several calls by upset websites for Matt Cutts to be removed from his position, but in an interview, Mr. Cutts stated that everything that they wanted to happen, happened.  That is to say, there’s probably a reason that many of these websites were hit, even if those webmasters don’t immediately understand.

Google is typically shrouded in mystery when it comes to the inner workings of their search engine.  However, Cutts does release a frequent video blog that explains the answer to life the universe and everything and how much of the ranking system works as well as answers questions.
