US Cloud and EU Customers

PATRIOTIC ACT IS A PROBLEM FOR U.S.BASED CLOUD

The EU customers have complained about the U.S. based clouds as they do not provide security to the data. So, the Microsoft launched the Office 365Trust center which offers its customers complete security. Microsoft claims to be the first cloud provider that governs the international transfer of personal Data with complete security. But there is a big threat to the EU customers because of the U.S.law known as the Patriotic Act under which the federal have the authorities to access the foreigner’s data, when hosted on U.S. cloud.

The companies are avoiding using the U.S. based cloud, as Patriot Act allows the access of data which is very dangerous. It is an important topic which affects all cloud providers, including non-US companies. Microsoft declared that it is not the company’s fault, it is the government‘s fault. Microsoft points out that every cloud provider in US has to suffer from this Patriotic Act. They say that company cannot do anything about it. They even say that many US companies are losing their business because of this act.

They are also   fighting against this act, so that EU customers can easily use it and without any fear can use the US based cloud. One such provider is Switzerland-Secure Safe. They say that they provide complete security to the files or data, but after this patriotic Act secure safe also seized their comments on security.So, now if U.S. based cloud want to be used by the EU customers, the Patriotic act should be dropped.
